JLS heart throb Aston Merrygold had to be resuced by lifeguards after getting his foot caught on a camera cable as the group filmed underwater.

Aston, 24, and his bandmates were all fully clothed in a swimming pool in Basildon, Essex, as they filmed footage to accompany their upcoming arena tour – which starts on Wednesday in Liverpool.

A source told The Sun: “Aston was really shaken up. He couldn’t untangle the cable and was underwater for some time.

“The other lads thought he was joking until it became obvious he was stuck. Luckily they had lifeguards on set who dived in to save him.

“In the end he was gutted that a couple of blokes rescued him instead of female lifeguards.”

JLS star Aston Merrygold has said that he cannot understand why Olly Murs is not nominated for ‘Best British Male’ at the Brit Awards tonight (February 21).

Murs is in the running for ‘Best Single’ with ‘Heart Skips A Beat’, but the boyband member confessed that he is disappointed his fellow X Factor alum has not received more recognition.

“It doesn’t make sense,” he told the Daily Star. “He’s had two double platinum albums and number one [singles].

“But he’ll perform on the night, show what he can do and do himself justice.”

Murs himself has admitted that he would have liked to receive more Brits nominations.
